![]() ![]() We were greeted with a very long line at the entrance so this increased our hopes of a great experience. Overall the environment was fun there was a lot of good people watching to be had but overall the food to us was a disappointment. So my wife and I had high expectations for the foodie Fest as we missed it last year. And listening to some of the folks that were there and while they were waiting in line a lot of them track these high-profile food trucks from either food shows or online so I don't know that anybody really had any idea where the food was good or not and if they had any taste such as my wife and myself they know that it was just average. Overall the food was average or below and the long wait in line it did not mean that the food was worth waiting for. Using our best judgment and through experience in the past we stood in some of the very long lines ranging from barbecue to Maine lobster and even a sushi burrito. As we meandered through the multiple lines of food trucks and food stands we noticed that some trucks had absolutely no phone lines with very long lines and some had no people at them at all. So my wife and I had high expectations for the foodie Fest as we missed it last year. I personally don’t think it was over prided at all considering these are food trucks and it’s a good festival. I spent $51 at the fest not including the $2 charge for the card: $19 for a lobster roll, $5 for a roller coaster ride, $5 for corn on the cob, $7 for Armenian coffee milkshake, $10 for tacos, $2 for Diet Coke, and $3 for lemonade. I loaded $40 onto my card and then just added as needed depending on what I wanted, towards the end of the night. It doesn’t seem like you can get a refund if you overload on your card so it’s best to load your card as necessary. There are plenty of stations so it doesn’t take a long time to load your card. This is what you would use to load your funds and pay for anything at the festival: rides, food, drinks. It cost $2 to obtain the “Magic Money” card. My friend got three tacos from Pablo's Kitchen for $10 and he said they were really good. The watermelon lemonade from The Smhoken Pot was the strongest lemonade I have ever had. It had the perfect combination of everything I love: chocolate and caffeine. ![]() The Armenian Coffee Milk Shake from Lucy's Waffles and Ice cream was amazing. My favorite thing to eat there was The Connecticut Roll from Cousins Maine Lobster and the corn on the cob. This year Great American Foodie Fest was free admission at the M Resort and Casino and the M Resort had free parking. Here’s a tip- walk into the Fest, go right over to the M Resort booth and get a free 2 for 1 buffet voucher, then walk out and go eat there. Save your money and avoid the Fest, you’re way better off at a decent buffet. On top of it all the porta-potties were all grouped in a far corner of the lot, making it a LONG walk from the other end of the Fest to use a restroom. We felt sorry for people with kids, must’ve cost them a small fortune between the overpriced food & ride passes! We didn’t check out the rides but it looked like standard carnival rides which creaked & groaned. The worst was the beer selection- absolutely no craft beers and $8.00 for swill which we wouldn’t drink even if it was free. Seriously?Īs far as the variety of food it was a real disappointment- very standard fare, lots of state fair junk food, very few original or innovative food trucks. We started with $50 on our card and for that we got a lobster roll, a sausage sandwich, a perogui, a small italian ice and a water. There was one single food truck which belonged to a feed-the-homeless charity accepting cash, at every other vendor you had to use the card system, so if happened to be a couple dollars short you had to go back and pay another fee to load more money onto the card. ![]() We also think the system is illegal, whatever happened to cash being legal tender? The card system is a total ripoff, it cost $4.00 to load money onto the card in the first place, so the idea that the Fest is “free” is nonsense. All of the vendors were GROSSLY overpriced, they had all raised their prices over their normal street prices, which was really obvious as in many cases they had duct taped over their regular menu prices $ written the new prices on the tape! As many of the vendors told us, this is because the organizers insisted on using the mandatory “Magic Money” card payment system, which allows the organizers to track individual sales and thus take a percentage of vendor proceeds. We attended the 2019 Fest at the M Resort, it was one of the most disappointing food truck events we have ever been to. ![]()
